Enrique Solari Swayne's Collacocha belongs to a trilogy dedicated to the main geographical regions of Peru. Collacocha (1956) corresponds to the mountains, La Mazorca to the jungle, and Ájax Telamonio the coast. Collacocha uses the dark and lonely tunnel system as a vehicle for man's incessant struggle to dominate nature, to foster and carve the soil into "humankind's dwelling", according to the author.
